FAQ

  1. What is Earthing?

In electrical engineering, ground or earth (symbol: ⏚) can refer to the reference point in an electrical circuit from which voltages are measured, a common return path for electric current, or a direct physical connection to the Earth.

  2. Why Earthing ?

Unfortunately, our electrical ecosystem is not perfect. It is constantly attacked by high voltages, fault currents, surges, short circuits & lightning all of which can turn deadly. So, any structure which has electricity running through it needs earthing for the protection of property and life.

    • Earthing is the process of creating an alternative path for the flow of fault/excessive currents safely into the ground in the presence of minimal resistance or impedance.
    • The primary purpose of earthing is to reduce the risk of serious electric shock from current leakage into uninsulated metal parts of an appliance, power tool, or other electrical devices.

Electrical circuits may be connected to ground (earth) for several reasons and. the primary objectives of a grounding system are to:

    • Control Radio Frequency (RF) Emissions & Electromagnetic Interferences.
    • Provide a stable reference potential for instrument accuracy.

    · Provide a discharge path for short circuits and lightning strikes (fault current /surge protection)

  3. I already have earthing, but I still get electrical shocks from the equipment ?

In that case, first you test the earthing system, following points to be chec

    • Check the main earthing point, confirm, it is not damaged due to corrosion, if found- remove it and connect after proper repair.
    • Check the main earthing point, whether it is tightly fitted or not, if any loose connection found, fit it properly.
    • Check all joints (main earth point to end connected point) if any loose connection found fit it properly.

Though problem remain same, we suggest, you have to test earthing system thru qualified technician. The traditional earthing methods have been plagued with corrosion and low conductivity problems for decades. The conventional earthing system methods have very short service life. They become ineffective and are as good as no earthing at all.

  4. What are the factors that determine the life of an earthing system?

Since the earthing system works underground, lot of environmental factors come into play to decide the life of the earthing system. They include

    • Soil conditions
    • Moisture content
    • Climate changes
    • Soil resistivity
    • Types of soil (normal, sandy, semi rocky, rocky etc.)
    • Acidity levels of the soil
    • Basic maintenance schedule

Apart from the above, it is very crucial that the installation of the earthing system is done as per specifications; non adherence will not only drastically reduce service life of the system but also hinder earth resistance results.

  5. Where is earthing needed?

Anyplace where electricity is used, earthing is important for safety of life and property. This can include

    • Homes
    • Offices
    • Telecommunication towers
    • Power transmission towers & HT/LT lines
    • Power generation plants
    • Mines
    • Transformers
    • High rise buildings
    • Production plants
    • Refineries
    • Windmills etc
  6. What is Gel Earthing System

Shree Vasudha has developed –First ever GEL Earthing, The world class product is manufactured to replace the traditional methods of earthing. After a consistent R&D and is being manufactured & marketed from 2000. With over decades of expertise and a true backing of almost 13-14 years of R & D has helped in evolve innovative cost effective & environment friendly solutions for your grounding requirements under the registered brand name Shree Vasudha (Gel Earthing Electrode) & our special hygroscopic compound named Shree Vasudha, Vasudha Plus and Vasudha Extra Plus.       By utilizing metal alloys and natural chemical compositions, the Gel Earthing Electrode is able to provide a multifaceted proactive earthing protection strategy. The Earthing Electrode is manufactured from custom-made I.S.I tube to ensure maximum conductivity and prolonged service life. The Gel Earthing Electrode contains a conductor rich crystalline mixture that will protect the main earth electord in the soil. This will ensure a highly conductive state for the fault current to pass on to earth.

  7. What is Back Fill Compounds

We have developed our unique back-fill-compound. Our unique back-fill-compound is a combination of natural earth minerals, which having the hygroscopic property, to retain the moisture for a long time. During Installation with proper water pouring, our B.F.C. powder convert into the “Gel” & its quality to retain the moisture upto twenty times its dry volume as well as it create a gel layer surrounding of our electrode.

To achieve quality and cost-effective solution, we are having Vasudha, Vasudha Plus and Vasudha Extra Plus- three different types of B.F.C.

Our B.F.C. is a combination of corrosion free and highly conductive minerals.
